1. Setting a Screen: Roone Arledge and TV Sports Production →

This is an article I wrote for Negative Dunkalectics, the only NBA blog I can read.

    RIP FD.

  2. Totally Essential Reading if You Live in Little Rock →

No, not Hollywood’s or history’s version. Not what happened to the heroes or the hatemongers, not the black-and-white version. The story of the gray, the people in between, the majority that ends up drifting toward one side or the other and determining history, often without even knowing why. The ones we need to understand most, because they’re us—the kids we likely would’ve been had we grown up white in the ’50s in the South—and because we, too, might drift when our moment comes. Just teenagers, so absorbed in their search for love and identity that they hadn’t even begun to take stock of the injustices swirling around them, to understand the forces about to sweep them off their feet. Teenagers just hungry to feel part of a group, the one that gave their town its greatest pride: its mighty football team.

  4. About the arkrecs tag

NOTE: I’ve been trying to rip my records for awhile now, and I figured it was appropriate that I share the results with everyone. Hopefully this is something I can do semi-often. Please be aware that some of these records have slight defects and warps — I’ve done everything I can to minimize these hiccups — but some tics still exist. If you had a hand in the creation of this record and don’t feel comfortable with it being available online, please send me a note.

What I’d like to do is put the record up, but also share any stories about the band/album I come across. So if you have a story about anything upcoming, please shoot me a line and let’s talk. I like stories.

  5. Towncraft

Please read THIS INFO about this project as a whole.

    Towncraft LP // 1992

I would write more about this album, but what’s the point? There’s already this, which makes my job easier. The documentary was fun, but I haven’t been able to find the actual album online.

My record is slightly warped on the outside lip, so you’re going to get a few tics on the opening seconds of each side, which is during Chalk’s “Vola” and Chino Horde’s “Composite.”

This would also be a good time to solicit for digital copies of the zines. I don’t have those, but it would be awesome to see the zines that came along with album.

NEXT TIME: The self titled 7” from Shut The Fuck Up!

  6. I need a place to post things I see on the internet
